Bricks & Wood x New Balance U9060 Cream Green

LA-based Bricks & Wood have teamed up yet again with the Bostonian Footwear brand, bringing you its take on another contemporary silhouette. After dropping a collaboration on the New Balance 57/40 in 2021, the mood board-inspired clothing brand flexes its fingers as they take to the recently released 9060. It seems as though New Balance is going full steam ahead with its rollout of the new silhouette, with Bricks & Wood being only one of a few collaborative efforts aiming to draw eyes to the new kid on the block.

Following suit with the current cream trend in sneakers, a hairy suede engulfs the upper and its varied panelling system. One of the most aggressive features is the jumbo mesh underlay, providing a technical edge to a shoe that looks to the future. The teeth-like midsole latches onto what appears like the more common 99X series midsole, an inventive update that separates the shoe from its inspirations. This is an impressive and important element of the shoe’s design because being a recent addition to the New Balance line, its distinct appearance will only help speak to the right audience. Green hits have also been added to the midsole, a colour that was so dominant on Bricks & Wood’s previous release. The hairy laces round off the tactile motif that the shoe explores, ensuring that these cannot be mistaken for a general-release pair.
