After a successful debut capsule in the Summer of ’22, Jacquemus and Nike are teaming up again for an unconventional take on the iconic Air Force 1. As the trio of Jacquemus x Nike Air Humara took the streetwear scene by storm, with the Jacquemus x Nike Humara "Pink" edition cementing itself as a ‘must cop’ among female fashion influencers, the duo’s return was inevitable. As founder and designer Simon Porte Jacquemus is clearly a shoe dog himself, this latest Air Force 1 project is a continuation of the stellar storytelling we experienced throughout the previous collaboration.
This “White Woven” edition is both familiar and completely different to the standard pair of Air Force 1 "Triple White". OG sneakerheads will be doing a double take on this latest collaboration from the Swoosh, with these set to divide opinions down the middle. Which side are you on? Is this a sneaker sacrilege or is this a welcomed update to the Air Force 1 family? The mini-Swoosh from the prior Jacquemus x Nike Air Humara has returned, replacing the large leather Swoosh that is normally found stitched into the side wall. A set of sail laces arrive with leather lace tabs, a nod to a detail that ran throughout Nike’s mid-2000s Considered range. The most apparent change is the lack of midsole, with a minimal woven outsole taking its place instead. This unconventional design was taken from the Nike ACG Considered Longball Lace shoe from 2007, a rare piece of footwear that only saw a limited release in Japan.
Below lies the instantly recognisable Nike waffle pattern, a trait that harks back to the brand’s early beginnings and Bill Bowerman’s infamous waffle iron moment (referenced by the small nipples on each tread as they serve no functional purpose). Co-branding is printed onto the sockliner in a white, a simple mini-Swoosh sat above the Jacquemus wordmark. Wrapping up this special new update are the silver lace dubraes sat at the bottom of the laces, however this time boasting the initials “JF1” to represent the new silhouette.
These will be hitting Nike’s SNKRS app as well as select retailers on the 21st of June, so make sure to set a reminder as these sold out during the Jacquemus website drop on the 13th.
