In case you weren't already aware, 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the birth of Bruce Kilgore's classic Air Force 1 silhouette, a shoe that's steeped in a huge amount of cultural significance. Having strong ties to New York City, Nike often uses the model to highlight the vibrant cultures and communities that call the city home, and the Nike Air Force 1 "Little Accra" does exactly that. Paying homage to the Ghanian community within NYC, the "Little Accra" AF1 comes covered in intricate detailing, so here's what to expect from the pair.
The sneaker arrives in a mix of red, beige, yellow and orange tones across smooth leather and nylon uppers, while embroidered gold detailing decorates the lateral sides and heels. The embroidered effect continues on the tongue and heel tabs too, where gold lettering calls out the Nike branding hits on the former and "Little Acca" wording on the latter. Other premium details include gold deubrés decorated with Ghanian symbols, and gold lace tips that continue the gilded theme. Peeping underfoot, you'll notice the mismatched insoles that reference the importance of 'sharing stories' and 'building communities', before a classic white AF1 sole unit adds the final finishing touch to the design.
