Air Jordan 1 Low OG Black Toe

Jordan Brand blesses its Air Jordan 1 Low line for summer ’23 with an absolute classic. It was only back in 2015 when JB started reissuing its iconic Air Jordan 1 Lows lineup that were poorly received, mainly because sneakerheads were still busy frowning at low-cut AJ1s at the time. Dropping the “Chicago”, “Bred” and “Shadow” colourways, fans were disappointed to find that the “Black Toe” was nowhere to be seen, only to be met with a High OG version in late 2016. Now over half a decade later, fans can finally get their hands on a pair of the long-awaited AJ1 Low OG “Black Toe”.

It only takes a quick Google search to spot a youthful Michael Jordan with a pair of Air Jordan 1 High “Black Toe” slung over his shoulder, or even leaping in front of the Chicago skyline with them on foot. Of course, paying homage to both of these infamous photos, this edition will arrive equipped with a set of red laces already threaded onto the upper. Constructed from a slightly more premium leather than your standard AJ1 Lows, you can expect a similar tooling to the “UNC” edition that was released in the summer of ’22.

If you’ve been a sneakerhead for almost two decades, then you might even recall the mid-cut version of the “Black Toe” that was included as part of the Old Love, New Love pack from ’07. Once again, that edition landed with a set of red laces, proving once again the importance of that detail. Underfoot lies the traditional AJ1 outsole, bathed in a red that matches the heel panelling above. A standard sock liner is tucked inside with a familiar “Nike Air” branding, while on the rear a printed Wings Insignia sits in black.

As it’s been a while since this OG colourway has graced the shelves, there will be high expectations and even higher demand from sneakerheads both old and new. The Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Black Toe” will be hitting the Nike SNKRS app and select retailers on the 28th of July, so make sure you set a notification reminder and don’t sleep on these.
