Turn the clock back 10 years and the Elephant Print topic was rife among the various Jordan-based sneaker circles. Popular YouTube sneaker collection videos of OG Jordan heads would normally discuss the coveted feature, pointing out a pair of Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” that they had picked up, then going on to complain about the lack of “Nike Air” on the heel tab … simpler times. Had this edition dropped back then, this Low version draped in elephant print would have seen a huge split in opinions, so we wonder if things have changed in 2023.
A soft nubuck graces the toe box and side walls, with hits of cement grey on the Swoosh and outsole below. The elephant print panels are present but in a lighter mix of greys, foregoing the usual black abstract lines for a more contemporary update. As expected on the Air Jordan 1 Low, an embroidered Wings insignia sits on the heel tab, hiding amongst the gaps of the print pattern. The standard sole can be seen here, boasting a fresh star count and tread pattern.
It appears as though Jordan Brand is giving the feature a lot of shine in 2023, with a similar Air Jordan 1 High “Cement Grey” dropping on the 25th of February. With a new influx of sneakerheads, we’ll be interested to see how the notorious Jordan feature will be received amongst the modern day audience.
