Jordan Brand retro a modern favourite in November 2023, a decade after the original Fear Pack debuted. This Air Jordan 3 is a one-to-one recreation of the pair that arrived next to two other Jordans as part of the beloved collection. The Fear narrative behind the OG 2013 collection was inspired by the second commercial in Jordan Brand’s Become Legendary campaign from 2008. In the “Look Me In My Eyes” commercial, a series of Nike athletes are featured during Micheal Jordan’s narration. The first half of the quote reads, “Look me in the eye. It’s ok if you’re scared. So am I. But we are scared for different reasons. I am scared of what I won’t become. And you are scared of what I could become…”, which is where the fear theme originates from. The theme is more obviously referenced on the special edition box that the 2023 retro comes in, with words from the advert printed onto the lid in an all-over print style as well as the wrapping paper inside.

The 2023 version also boasts the same high-quality materials that the first edition was known for, another enticing reason for fans who missed out on the first drop. Labelled as “Night Stadium/ Total Orange/ Black/ Flat Pewter/ Neutral Grey” for its official colour palette, the “Fear” Jordan 3 is undoubtedly easier to remember. One major sign of its early 2010s origin is the speckled midsole, a detail which became widely popular around that era of footwear design, causing a huge hit of nostalgia for anyone who was a sneakerhead during that time. The elephant print is shrouded in black, connected on the upper by a waxed suede mudguard which runs from heel to toe. The main body of the upper is a nubuck, similar to what was used on the Air Jordan “Off-Noir” release from early November 2023, adding another elevated touch to the retro. Jumpman branding on the tongue and heel get a loud lick of orange, giving the branding a pop that match the eyelet accents.
