Nike Air Max 1 Safari Beige

The “Safari” make-up has a long-standing history of Nike products that span back to the original release of the Nike Air Safari 87. Since then, atmos have tried its hand at the print, transferring it onto the highly coveted Air Max 1 with its 2002 atmos Safari release. Most recently, size? combined its signature orange and animal-based print on its AM1 Safari from 2018, going on to release an AM95 edition later that year. Now that a select number of retailers have had their turn with the make-up, Nike has started its rollout with this “Safari Beige” SMU release.

Boasting the signature dotted print is the mudguard, the most notable feature on an Air Max 1 and one that sets the tone for the rest of the upper. Underlying the beige Swoosh is a tiger print, while on the heel, a reptilian pattern is used to add to the pair’s animal-inspired panelling. A tightly woven mesh underpins the upper’s construction, allowing for the high standard of breathability and flexion that the model is known for. The Nike branding is done in a simple black that also makes its way onto the Air unit and lip of the tread. Taking a step away from the bright colours that the prints often arrive in is this edition, allowing for a more easily approachable shoe. Now that the Safari print has been turned down a notch, sneakerheads eager to give the famed print a try can finally do so.
