The Air Max 95 has an unconventional design inspiration: the human body. It may sound bizarre, but designer Sergio Lozano incorporated these elements to create the unique streamlined shape of the shoe. The wavy panels represent the muscles, the midsole resembles the spine, and the laces act as the lungs. The shoe is the first to use a visible Nike Air unit in the forefoot, supporting the visible heel Air setup for more cushioning. Bill Bowerman’s invention, the waffle sole, comprises the outsole of this shoe. The decoupled sole allows the Air units to balance the cushioning. This colourway features a mix of materials like suede, leather and mesh in black. University blue accents comprise the eyestay, Swoosh outline, and Air bubbles.
