We were as confused as you were when we first laid our eyes on the Nike Air VaporMax FlyKnit Gaiter ISPA Silver Black, but the longer we stared, the more it made sense. Releasing as part of the Swoosh’s ‘Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, Adapt’ line, these were made with the wet and windy months in mind, and if you still have no idea what is going on, make sure you read on.
Boasting a high cut silhouette that seems to be inspired by an astronaut’s mission ready space boot, the upper of the Air VaporMax FlyKnit Gaiter ISPA Silver Black takes the shape of a water resistant shroud which can be removed via a zip that runs across the entire front of the shoe. Once removed, you’ll be presented with a classic Air VaporMax 3.0 silhouette in a stealthy all black colour scheme.
The AVM is crafted from a Flyknit material for a sock like fit, and down below, you’ll find a full length Air unit that’s been making waves since its debut in 2017. While it’s possible to wear these without the shroud, the Beaverton based brand doesn’t want you to forget about the shoe’s ISPA roots, that’s why they’ve placed the logo onto the tongue in a contrasting red tone.
