Nike Dunk Low Joker

Nike is all too familiar with using its Dunk Low to reference cultural points of interest. Whether it’s the Diamond x Nike SB Dunk Low “Tiffany” from 2005 or the Nike SB Heineken from 2003, certain colour combinations will always arrive with cultural context. That’s exactly the case for the new Dunk Low “Joker” edition which uses a signature mix of white, green and purple that nods to the infamous villain.

Opting for a white leather toe box and sidewall, this may not seem too different from your traditional Dunk at first. Then, with two distinct shades of purple and green thrown onto the overlaying panelling, the reference becomes a lot more obvious. Just like the Joker dons his iconic purple suit, so too does this Dunk, dressing up its Swoosh and embroidered heel logo in that unmistakable hue. Keeping this colourway somewhat grounded are the white laces and gum bottom, two major ticks in the eyes of sneakerheads that only add to the pair’s “if you know, you know” factor.

Had the palette been a few shades darker, this could have easily been a nod to the classic tennis tournament that is Wimbledon, but fans of the DC Universe will be pleased to see that that’s not the case. Now we’ll just have to wait and see if we’ll get a Batman colourway for some interesting mismatched fit pics.
