Nike SB x TIGHTBOOTH Dunk Low Pro Black White

Nikes SB returns to Japan, teaming up with fashion label TIGHTBOOTH to stir up even more hype around the Dunk in 2023. First revealed by owner Ueno via Instagram, the pair has caught the eye of both skaters and sneakerheads across the globe. Inspired by what Nike is describing as "the freedom of nighttime in the streets ... during after-dark session", this pair will certainly be a must cop for sneakerheads out there. This project further highlights Japan’s presence within the world of skateboarding, a sport that Yuto Horigome continues to dominate, with a silhouette that has had deep ties to the island’s sneaker history since the '90s.

Although many will draw comparisons to the more recent “Panda” pair, the tooling is actually closer to the SB Dunk Low “Staple Panda Pigeon” from ’19, while a select few may even recognise a similarity to the custom iteration produced by another Japanese native no-brainer* and his “AE86” edition.

Formed from a delicate black suede, the leather overlays provide a harsh contrast, especially as its grid-pattern finish gives this pair an industrial edge. A padded SB tongue provides the usual comfort, which in combination with a Zoom pocket in the heel makes these more comfortable than your standard Dunk edition. Another fun addition is the polka-dot finish on the exterior tongue, a detail that echoes the division’s early 2000s era, with pairs like the Nike Dunk Low PRB x fragment Fujiwara ’06 heavily embracing the dotted motif. 3M detailing on the Swoosh provides extra flair, making sure these pop during any nighttime skate sessions. Apart from the tab which pokes out from the Swoosh, the orange accents have been limited to the inner sock liner and back of the tongue, with a large spell-out logo printed onto the footbed in black. Further co-branding is printed onto the tongue, a mini TIGHTBOOTH wordmark visible from underneath a set of rope laces.
