After an initial delay, Nike is going ahead with its next Tom Sachs collaboration. The Mars Yard 3.0 will now be dropping in September 2025, yet as people already know with the MY series, copping will be no easy feat. People can now sign up to the I.S.R.U. (In-Situ Resource Utilisation) app which will give them one way of purchasing the Nike MY 3.0.
However since then Nike has released a statement saying, “Tom has demonstrated and recommitted to fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity”, indicating that, “We can confirm that our work with Tom will continue and this next chapter of NikeCraft will uphold our shared passion for team, product, and storytelling excellence. More details to come in 2025.”
While many are left with a bitter taste in their mouth, few sneakerheads are happy to see the announcement. Previously the Nike Mars Yard 3.0 was set to release towards the end of 2023, with high profile stockists having already put in a retail order for the shoe. Now it looks as though the shoe will see a release almost two years later, with many fans of Sachs’ work pleased. In the meantime, Sachs revealed that the new silhouette had been through rigorous testing, ensuring that similar to previous Mars Yard iterations that the new 3.0 would be able to perform to the best of its ability.
Back in 2021, a slew of Mars Yard 2.5s were sent out to members of the Sachs and sneaker community, each tasked with putting serious miles behind their pair. Once the test period concluded, those shoes were then sent back to inform what could possibly be the Nike MY 3.0, so it will be interesting to see whether any extra features such as the extra rubberised toe cap are included on the next iteration.
Now releasing on the 19th of September via select UK and EU-based retailers, not only are quantities are expected to be very low but some raffles also require an ISRU acccount. For those who participated in the ISRU challenges over the last two months and are in the top sections of points earned, you would have already recieved an email from Tom Sachs confirming whether or not you secured a pair. Depending on how many you points you achieved, you will be within the first batch of winners or included in the second batch who will preorder their pairs for 2026.
