The Air Jordan 1 has been a cultural landmark since its arrival 4 decades ago. While its place on the basketball court is cemented in history, this classic silhouette continues to be reimagined for everyday life. Now, the original Jordan design takes its toughest stride yet into the off road landscape with a rugged design built for the great outdoors.
The Air Jordan 1 Low Element’s enduring DNA, a product of Peter Moore’s original vision, has been upgraded with some serious utility. The most apparent addition is a robust outsole fitted with pronounced studs, providing excellent grip. For protection against the elements, the upper features Gore-Tex. Inside, a sock like inner bootie is paired with a gridded nylon tongue that also stretches across the toe box and mid foot. The shoe's overlays are a gentle suede, complete with micro perforations on the heel, while the classic Swoosh logo is rendered with a taped finish.

This is not the first time Jordan Brand has adapted the AJ1 for the trails. We have previously seen models like the high top Air Jordan 1 Element Gore-Tex, though its outsole does not offer the same level of technical performance as this new version. The traction lugs on the Low Element are designed to wrap around the toe and heel, ensuring maximum grip during both heel and toe strikes. There was also the Air Jordan 1 City Trek from 2013, which was designed more for casual urban exploring than true hiking.
The new design also shares some characteristics with one of the most talked about trainers of the year, the Nike Mars Yard 3.0 by Tom Sachs. That third collaborative edition, with its own 80s Nike roots and durable outsole, has a similar spirit to the new Air Jordan 1 Low Element.
Three different colourways have been officially presented: a Glacier Blue, a Medium Olive, and a Black with Challenge Red accents. All three are set to arrive on the 1st of October, 2025, with a retail price of £200. They will be available on Nike.com and through selected Jordan retailers. Want to snag a pair for retail price?
