Nashville-based artisanal pizza shop Slim & Husky’s teams up with Nike to honour the store founders’ alma mater, Tennessee State University, as part of Nike’s effort to recognise HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) talents and creatives in the Yardrunners 4.0 collection along with other schools. The shoe of choice for this collaboration? An underrated Nike Terminator High filled with storytelling details paying homage to the TSU Tigers and Tigerbelles.

Since 2020, Nike’s Yardrunners program has continued to provide scholarships and opportunities to several HBCUs. The brand takes it up a notch with the 2023 Yardrunners 4.0 batch, starring four Nike Terminator High colourways honouring their respective schools. This rendition flaunts a sail white leather base with black and white tiger stripes constructed in faux fur encompassing the toe and heel panels. Meanwhile, crisp white tones cover the eyestay and nylon tongue for contrast. Gold embroidered “1912” labels on the lateral forefoot represent Tennesee State University’s founding year, with a wool-like T overlay on the rear. Blue Swooshes adorn the sides, complementing the blue co-branded tag on the tongue. Slim & Husky’s graphics form the sockliner, while a “GET GEEK’D” message appears on the interior. Other notable details include “The Boys” and “Tigerbelles” branding on the white laces, finished with gold lace tips for a luxe makeover. The red rubber outsole wraps up this collaborative Nike Terminator High.
