What may seem at first as a bit of a left turn from Drake’s NOCTA division, might actually make more sense than you think. The line has been dropping a lot of heat so far, introducing the Nike Hot Step Air Terra, then the Air Force 1 “Certified Lover Boy” and now the…Scuba Slide? Although this may seem like an odd move, the pair isn’t actually too unconventional compared to the current crop of slides in today’s industry.
Unknown to most, Drake has had a surprisingly long history in the sneaker game, with limited PE Air Jordan releases in celebration of his tours stretching as far back as the early 2010s. His previous inclusion of Goatek on the Hot Step Air Terra and close friendship with both artist and avid shoe dog Lil Yachty, are also an indicator of the artist’s affinity for footwear. So given this surprisingly long connection, the Scuba Slide could be a possible nod to the early Nike Aqua Gear Scuba iterations from the late ‘90s and early 2000s. The Slides come draped in a triple black, bearing the NOCTA logo and shooting stars, but while the colourway might be clean, whether or not these can be considered versatile is yet to be decided.
A few people online have noticed that these are eerily similar to the Scuba Slides that are available to buy on Nike’s US website, so we still are not certain that this is an official release just yet. Until then, make sure to keep tuned into The Sole Supplier where we can keep you updated on whether or not this drop is legit!
