Stüssy is back at it again with the Nike Basketball retros in 2023. Releasing the ‘90s cult favourite Air Max Penny 2 capsule in early ’23, the American streetwear brand has dived even further back into the Swoosh’s catalogue to pull out the Vandal High. It isn’t the first time we’ve seen the early ‘80s silhouette return in the past few years, with a brief spell on the shelves back in 2018. Now, Stüssy gets a chance to shine a light on the underdog by giving it the staple “Fossil” tooling.
Similar to both the Air Force 1 Mid and Air Max 2013 “Fossil” iterations, this pair is kitted out in a beige hemp from heel to toe. A black ankle strap ticks off one of the shoe’s signature features, with an extra strap arriving inside the box in case you feel the need to lighten things up. Speaking of brightening things up, two extra laces also land as part of the ensemble, one of which is a bright neon pink option that’ll have you feeling like you’re back in the early lace swap days of the 2000s. The tongue label features the iconic Stüssy link logo that is sewn onto the exposed mesh tongue, a detail which had been updated since the retros from ’18. The midsole keeps it plain and simple, matching the sail tones above, while underneath the tread is a call back to the typical ‘80s traction style.
The Stüssy x Nike Vandal High capsule will be landing on the Stüssy website on the 9th of June at 10:00AM UK time, with a Nike SNKRS release following soon after. This “Fossil” edition will likely be the most sought after pair, so make sure to keep it locked into The Sole Supplier for any further details!
