This latest collaborative pack between Daiki Suzuki’s Engineered Garments and Reebok’s new LX2200 silhouette, delivers three shoes that embrace the animal kingdom. This particular “Camel Olive” iteration proves that the LX2200 is in fact a worthy canvas for Suzuki to explore his brand’s theme of “straying from ‘perfect design’”.
Earth-based tones do well to highlight the intricate attention to detail, implying thoughtful design while equally appearing as if the tooling was formed of factory floor scraps. This is very much true to Engineered Garments, a brand that enjoys “venturing into conflicting themes”. Reebok’s nylon knit upper that underlays the other panelling beautifully resembles a crochet-like design, which along with the cut-and-sew engineering, implies a hand-crafted element to the shoe. Brown rope laces tie in with the brown motif that runs throughout the shoe and is an excellent match for the gun sole below. Co-branding has been kept to a minimum, with an “LX” being swapped out for the “EG” on the embroidered model number on the heel portion. Inside of the shoe, the animal kingdom theme is more obviously explored with a variety of different silhouettes printed onto the insole.
