Maison Margiela diffusion line, MM6, marks its stamp of approval in the latest collaboration with French outdoor sportswear company Salomon. The two France-born powerhouses resume their partnership following the Autumn/Winter 2022 collection. This time MM6 transforms the iconic XT-4 into a mule. Bring a different type of gorpcore aesthetic with this MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon XT-4 Mules “Black”.
Salomon is becoming the go-to brand for luxury labels to reinvent gorpcore footwear. Rei Kawakubo’s Comme des Garçons had its own Salomon collaboration in 2022, while Carhartt WIP brought workwear designs with the Shelter CSWP rendition. This new MM6 collaboration reimagines the popular trail running model XT-4 by getting rid of the heel. Sticking to OG Salomon XT-4 construction, the mule features a mesh upper base with TPU film overlays on the sides. The rubber toe cap adds more protection to reduce forefoot abrasion. Salomon’s Quicklace setup, Agile Chassis System technology and Contagrip outsole are some notable design elements that cross over from the sneaker to this mule.
This colourway has a triple black makeover with the white MM6 logo stamped on the lateral forefoot for a minimalist look. Carbon fibre-inspired textures adorn the TPU overlays on the sides for added detail.
