It's crazy to think that it's been almost two years since the last Skepta Swoosh shoe. Following the release of his highly popular Shox TL back in 2019, we're now taking a closer look at the legendary grime artist's next collaboration - the Skepta x Nike Air Max Tailwind 5.
Rumours of this stretch as far back as September 2019 when sneaker insider @py_rates reported on it. Now, Air Max Archives have taken off the wraps to unveil a shoe that's unlike anything we've seen before. Just like the British MC's other collabs with the Beaverton brand, he has fused together two vintage silhouettes, namely the Air Max Tailwind 5 and the Tailwind 5 Plus from 1999. This is done up with a bright red neoprene upper and a glossy black cage that's reminiscent of the TN Air Max Plus.
Iridescent accents descend upon the tongue and collar, while a brash metallic silver zig-zag shoots across the heel. To round it all off, a subtle yet striking Nike Swoosh can be found smack bang in the centre of the sidewalls, finalising the retro-futuristic aesthetic that we all know and love.
Originally set to drop last year, we can expect the Skepta x Nike Air Max Tailwind 5 to launch sometime this year instead. Let us know what you think of this collab, and in related news, Travis Scott just stepped out in the Air Jordan 1 Low "Cactus Jack UNC"!
