Tom Sachs has got a secret project up his sleeve and it's definitely not what we expected. After getting a very brief sneak peek last week, we're now taking a closer look at the upcoming Tom Sachs x NikeCraft General Purpose Shoe. Arriving two years after the launch of the infamous Overshoe and one year after the New York-based contemporary artist sent out Mars Yard 2.5 tester kits to a lucky few, here's everything that we know so far about Sach's next Swoosh collaboration.
One of the most mysterious silhouettes that we've seen in a while, the so-called General Purpose Shoe is like a mix between the Killshot and the Waffle. Featuring a cream ballistic mesh base, this has been elevated with buttery suede panels on the toebox, back, and lacing system. Tom Sach's signature spacesuit-inspired styling comes into play here, with oversized pull tabs at the tongue and back as well as annotated text throughout.
A crisp white Swoosh shoots across the lateral and medial side panels, while "Nike" is stamped at the rear in the NYC creative's famous handwriting. To round it all off, a chunky gum rubber midsole sits underfoot, finalising the simple yet striking design.
Details surrounding the Tom Sachs x Nike General Purpose Shoe are still quite scarce at this moment in time, though we know for a fact that they'll definitely launch this year. Let us know if you'll be adding these to your rotation, and while you're here, you might as well take your first look at the Nike Air Trainer 1 SP "Honeydew"!
