As simple as it is, the Tom Sachs x NikeCraft General Purpose Shoe is no doubt one of the most interesting sneakers of the decade. Created by the New York City-based creative, it's his third silhouette with the Nike following on from the coveted Mars Yard and the space age-inspired Overshoe.
Intentionally made to be "boring", the GPS is made for everyday life. Coined as an "ordinary shoe for extraordinary people", every single aspect of this sneaker is designed to be a tool rather than a fashion piece. Taking inspiration from models like the Killshot and the Waffle, the mesh upper of the General Purpose Shoe is extra breathable, while suede panelling wraps around for a premium look and feel.
Underneath the NikeCraft trainer is a gum rubber midsole that's as versatile as it gets, while oversized pull tabs along the tongue and heel offer up a utilitarian vibe. This all comes packed within a special edition shoebox that was first used for the aforementioned Mars Yard.
Having been well received by sneakerheads upon its initial drop, the Swoosh has set up a re-release for this first colourway of the GPS. Rumoured to be dropping exclusively on the Tom Sachs website, this limited drop will be swept up in super quick fashion, so make sure you’re hot off the press with this one.
