Making its debut in 1987, it's been 35 years since we first laid eyes on the sneaker that started it all. Die-hard sneakerheads stand by Nike's Air Max 1 as the sneaker that's never let them down or forgotten its roots, so it's only right that the Swoosh Brand make a statement for its anniversary this year. To celebrate Air Max Day, we can take an early look at some early shots of the Nike Air Max 1 "Wabi-Sabi", or PRM “XXXV” below.

As shown off by @riehata, these mismatched Air Max 1s sport a differing design on each mudguard, with one taking on a darker-toned brown suede across the toe cap, and the other taking on a grey-green hue. As usual, an embroidered mini-Swoosh dresses the forefoot of the sneaker, whilst contrast stitching gives the shoe an overall 'DIY' effect that's only heightened by the introduction of bold red cross-stitching on the back of the lateral sidewall. A cracked design makes its way across the midsole of this shoe, thought to give this Air Max 1 its title (wabi-sabi being about finding beauty in imperfections), whilst bottle-green Swooshes remind passersby of the impact Nike have had on the sneaker industry from day one.
