“Panda” colourways are really all the rage right now aren’t they? Although they’re having a moment, we’re sure we’ll see them stick around for a good while longer, because you don’t get much more timeless than a black and white sneaker. The latest “Panda” pair to catch our eye doesn’t come from Nike though – we’re actually talking about the New Balance 550 “Black Cream,” a pair that combines everyone’s favourite colourway with the silhouette of the year. Intrigued? Here’s what to expect from the pair.
Thanks to efforts of Teddy Santis and Aimé Leon Dore, the “Panda” New Balance 550 is just one of the colourways we can expect to see this year, and looks to be a reverse version of the Cream/Black pair we previewed just a while back. Crafted from a mix of smooth leather, mesh and classic nylon, the “Black Cream” NB 550s sport a blacked-out upper with hints of cream detailing.
The “Black Cream” 550s see the shoe’s upper done up in blacked-out perforated and smooth leathers, whilst black mesh tongues and nylon collars add a sporty vibe that calls back to the silhouette’s basketball heritage. Further celebrating this, the cream ‘N’ logo that sits on the sidewalls comes complete with a basketball-textured feel, and the tongue tab features the brand’s basketball logo. To add extra detail to the “Panda” 550 colourway, a white leather panel appears across the ankle, whilst cream-coloured New Balance 550 branding appears on the forefoot and heel. The pair come finished with cream, grey and black midsoles and outsoles that complement the pair’s retro vibes.
Looking to pick up the “Black Cream” New Balance 550s? You shouldn’t have to wait too long, as the pair are expected to form part of the Boston brand’s spring line-up. Until then, be sure to download our app and set your release reminders to be the first to know when this “Panda” pair will drop!
