Updated 14/8/23: At long last, the Aminé x New Balance 610 "Mooz" has finally been given a release date. Marking the rapper's first ever collaborative shoe, the banana-themed pair will be dropping on the 22nd of August on Aminé's own website, though the Boston-based brand is yet to confirm whether the pair will see a wider release via its own channels. Original Article: New Balance continues to prove it has its collaborative formula well and truly perfected, as it's announced that the next star to get their own sneaker will be the one and only Aminé. After tapping into the rap zeitgeist with its Jack Harlow partnership and the long-awaited Action Bronson collection earlier this year, the Portland-born rapper took to IG to share the teaser video in order to get fans talking ahead of the drop.
Easily one of the most stylish rappers going, Aminé has been a New Balance ambassador since last year, while also appearing in campaigns for both NB and Crocs. Given his overall aesthetic, the resulting sneaker isn't too much of a surprise, as bright yellow, brown and iridescent hues take over the upper.
Taking to Instagram to speak on the collab, Aminé said: "I was obsessed with trying to become a sneaker designer at some point but didn't think it was possible 'til I met Louis . I've wanted to do this for so long but hip-hop found me at the right time in my life. I've learned to accept and see the beauty in everything you've been given. There's not a lot of people where I'm from that have had a chance to do this and I want to make sure I'm not the last."
Working on top of New Balance's techy trail running 610 silhouette, the sneaker takes on a bold yellow mesh base, while brown overlays work their way across the uppers in line with the artist's banana-themed motif. The banana detailing can also be seen floating in the snowglobe style window just underneath the ankle, while iridescent green panels touch base on the toes, midfoot and heels. Sat atop a brown sole, the sneakers won't be for everyone, but we have to admire the commitment to detail.
Right now, there's no release date for the Aminé x New Balance 610, but in the meantime, stay locked to The Sole Supplier for all the latest sneaker news and releases.
Up next, the Crocs Pollex Clog appears in "Slime".
