Action Bronson x New Balance 990v6 Multi

Born in Queens, New York, Action Bronson is, and was, no stranger to sneakers. With whispers regarding an upcoming New Balance collab making the rounds since his 2016 Sneaker Shopping episode, the rumours can finally be put to bed. This collaboration with the multi-disciplinary artist and New Balance has been long overdue, the question is, was it worth the wait?

Kicking the tonal trend to the side, Action Bronson went full sensory overload and held nothing back with his first collaborative pair. Neon green, safety orange and deep blue hues all made their way onto the colour scheme and you know what, it works. The loud colours are carefully balanced with the dark olive mudguard and lace panels, even the occasional spot of leather nodding to the silhouette’s archival roots. The bright colours were clearly not enough for the rapper, throwing in some pink and purple rope laces that give the shoe a trail-ready look. The New Balance “N” has also been given the Bronson touch with a metallic finish that feeds into the shoe’s already-rugged feel. On the tongue sits an embossed “baklava”, one of the many monikers belonging to the rapper and a final reminder that this is indeed an Action Bronson shoe.

Action Bronson took to his Instagram story after the US release to say, "“Shoes sold out, there was a lot of pairs but not enough for as many people who wanted them. I understand the frustration and I apologise in advance but that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. I didn’t get to choose how many were made, this is my first rodeo, there will be more.” This is just another reminder that the hype is definitely real and to make sure you closely follow the UK release on 22nd of May if you want these in your collection!
