One of the most influential brands in the streetwear scene, Nigo’s BAPE is best known for two things - its iconic camo print, and its signature BAPESTA shoe. Introduced in the early 2000s, the BAPESTA has seen its fair share of iterations, from collaborations with everyone from Kanye West to JJJJound, to bright and flashy colourways like their “Cotton Candy” pair. Now, BAPE’s womenswear label BAPY is set to drop three women’s-exclusive styles spanning their BAPESTA and BAPE SK8 STA silhouettes, so here’s what’s been lined up for the ladies.
As expected, BAPY’s BAPESTAs follow design cues from the usual pairs, including the classic lightning star that sweeps across the side of the shoe. The first pair arrives in an all-white leather makeup, with pink and blue details spanning the lining, laces, and branding hits, whereas the two skate-ready BAPE SK8 STA silhouettes come constructed from soft suede.
In terms of the SK8 STA colourways, the “Sand Wash” takes on a neutral-coloured beige shade, with baby pinks and blue adding pops of colour, and the “Minty Green” sees the same silhouette arrive in blue-green tones and has the addition of silver charms hanging from the side. As expected, the BAPE SK8 STA styling is slightly more rugged, with chunky eyelets and rubber heel details adding to the skate aesthetic.
The BABY BAPESTA and BAPE SK8 STAs are already available in BAPE’s China and Hong Kong stores, but right now there’s no word of a UK release. Be sure to keep it locked though, because we’ll be the first to let you know when we hear more!
