COMME des GARCONS and New Balance have a couple of releases lined up this year, having previewed both a 2002R and 1906R during men’s fashion week. Joining these is a follow-up to the COMME des GARCONS HOMME 550 collaboration, this time arriving in the shape of the New Balance 580.
For those unfamiliar with the 580, the model originated as a Japanese exclusive back in the ‘90s. Given NB’s successful track record in resurrecting its archival silhouettes, it was only a matter of time before the sneaker saw a resurgence, which came in the form of a Stray Rats collab during 2022. A couple of GR editions followed, but it’s been left to CdGH to spearhead its most luxe-looking take to date.
As with other CdGH collabs, the pairs take on a minimalist make-up in muted colourways, with both grey and beige iterations dropping. Built from soft suede and breathable mesh, the CdGH 580s retain that quintessential NB look and feel, while the CdGH branding adds an elevated touch.
