Before we begin this piece about the Travis Scott x Nike Air Trainer 1 "Light Smoke Grey", The Sole Supplier want to take a moment to remember those who lost their lives at Astroworld Festival 2021: Axel Acosta, Bharti Shahani, Brianna Rodriguez, Danish Baig, Ezra Blount, Franco Patino, Jacob E. Jurinek, John Hilgert, Madison Dubiski, and Rudy Peña.
Earlier this week, Nike announced that Travis Scott's Air Max 1 collaboration will be postponed "out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival." In addition to this collection, La Flame was also working on a few other projects with the Beaverton brand, including an Air Trainer 1 range that first leaked back in August.
A collection that has been kept relatively under wraps for the past few months, sneaker insider @k9_itsiant is now giving us a closer look at the "Light Smoke Grey" colourway. Featuring a light "Particle Grey" scheme with "Honeydew" accents on the mudguards and rubber strap, the shoe is also equipped with snap-on attachments for wearers to attach an accompanying waterproof shroud. There's also a zipped pocket around the back to store your secret stash.
Early rumours suggested that this will drop alongside the "Coriander" and the "Dark Smoke Grey", but with the tragic loss of life that occurred during Scott's annual music festival, this may well be his final collaboration with the Swoosh. Over the past five years the Houston-born rapper has undoubtedly made a great impact on the sneaker industry, but with ten lives lost it's hard to see this partnership continuing much further.
According to our sources, the Travis Scott x Nike Air Trainer 1 will release sometime during Spring 2022 but we wouldn't be surprised if it were pushed back or even cancelled altogether. Let us know if you'd like the "Cactus Jack" collab to continue, and while you're here, you might as well take your best look yet at the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low "Reverse Mocha".
