A few weeks have passed since the untimely passing of designer, Virgil Abloh, and we have to say, things haven’t felt quite the same since he left us. It seems that the celeb world feels the same way, with tributes still pouring in left, right and centre. Now, Drake has taken to social media to share a look at an exclusive Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 sample. Whilst it’s unclear if these will ever get a release, we can still take a closer look at the shoe in remembrance of Virgil’s immense talent and vision.
Similar to the construction seen on the University Gold Off-White Air Force 1s, this white leather pair keeps the shoe’s structure pretty much intact, with the detailing focussed on highlighting Virgil’s signature elements like the “AIR” wording on the sole and over-stitched metallic Nike Swoosh. The Air Force 1's tongue has received an exposed foam twist, and the Nike Air tongue branding has been stitched to the side to show off this detail. A small blue tag sits to the back of the Swoosh, and the inside of the sneakers have been stamped with “Sample Property of Nike, not for resale.”
Like we said before, it's unclear as to whether these Off-White x Nike samples will ever get released, but if they ever do, we’ll let you know. Until then, we’re sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of Virgil Abloh’s previously unreleased work in the months to come, as the designer's incredible work rate was unmatched.
Up next, here’s a closer look at Drake’s Nike sneaker.
