When it comes to the traditional Japanese embroidery technique, Nike is certainly no stranger to it. Over the past few years, the Beaverton brand have applied the ancient art to many of its silhouettes. From the Air Jordan 4 to the Dunk, it looks like we could be getting another sashiko-inspired colourway in the form of the Air Jordan 1 KO "Sashiko" - and we're now taking our first look!
Taking on the lesser-loved Air Jordan 1 model that debuted around the '80s, the upper is crafted from mismatched denim construction that's been given a pre-washed look for a vintage vibe. Swoosh stitching shoots across the lateral and medial sides complete with sashiko cross embroidery, while crisp white laces tie everything together.
Down below, you'll find an all-white Air midsole with a little wedge taken off around the heel for supposed added comfort, and to round it all off, "Nike" is Japanese adorns the tongue of each sneaker, finalising the design.
It's hard to know if the Nike Air Jordan 1 High KO "Sashiko" will ever see the light of day. According to our sources, this sample was produced back in 2019 and we've seen nothing about it since. With that said, never say never, right? Be sure to hit that "Notify me" button to keep up-to-date, and in related news, the Union LA x Air Jordan 1 High OG "Chicago" is pretty close to perfection!
