Though New Balance has well and truly made its mark on the lifestyle sneaker scene over the past couple of years, the Boston-based brand’s running heritage is not to be sniffed at. And, while the brand has certainly upped its collaboration strategy recently, its latest release is rooted in its history. Joining forces with one of London’s most prolific run clubs, Run The Boroughs, for a second time, the duo is set to drop the Run The Boroughs x New Balance Made in UK 730 ahead of the upcoming London Marathon.
Having previously released a collaborative 991 a year ago, the pair turn their attention to the 730 for this venture. Keeping things local to the UK, the sneaker was crafted in New Balance’s Flimby factory making it the perfect pairing for the London-based run club, and indeed the marathon event.
The Run The Boroughs x NB 730 takes inspiration from the run club’s colour palette, and sees tonal shades of blue take over the entirety of the upper, save for a bright white ‘N’ logo that graces the pair’s sidewalls. In true New Balance fashion, the style arrives in a mixed material construction, combining premium suede with breathable mesh for added comfort, and a foam midsole for a smooth ride. From here, clean branding hits continue to deliver on the premium look and feel, with co-branded tongue tabs that represent the race route, London Marathon-inspired linear graphics on the insoles, and the style’s usual New Balance lettering at the heel tab.
