June marks the start of Pride Month 2020 and brands from Nike and adidas to UGG and Converse are celebrating early by releasing their very own Pride-inspired sneaks. Colourful, inclusive and empowering, each silhouette nods to the global celebration in a different way and each and every one is destined for your collection.
CONVERSE
The Converse Pride 2020 capsule collection was recently unveiled and features a range of rainbow-detailed Chuck 70s in both high and low-top finishes. The Converse Chuck 70 High Top designs range from white hues with rainbow logo patches, unicorn graphics and pride-flag striped heels. Also present in the high-top iterations is two sequin-embellished designs. Arguably the two most statement designs in the entire pack, these glistening sneakers are finished with a rainbow outsole that delivers a flash of colour when you walk.
The black high-tops in the Converse capsule range from all-over rainbow detailing to the colours featured only on the heel. With some rounded off with a slogan plaque on the heel that reads “Diversity. Equality. Love”, others are made to pop with entirely coloured-in midsoles. The Converse Low-Top silhouettes in the pack follow the same rainbow theme as their high-top counterparts.
Due to drop on the 29th May, add the Converse Pride 2020 Pack to your wishlist and we promise your shoedrobe will be instantly uplifted!
ADIDAS
Fusing the 50th anniversary of the Superstar silhouette with this year's Pride Month, adidas has unveiled the adidas Superstar “Pride 2020”. An iconic silhouette that's elevated with Pride-inspired details, a multicoloured trefoil logo on the lateral side and another on the heel nods to the world-famous Pride flag, while a gold-tone logo patch on the tongue and a shell-toe cap pays homage to the OG design.
Also releasing in honour of Pride Month is a colourful adidas NMD R1. This sneaker boasts a clean white upper and a bright rainbow midsole that nods to the Pride flag. Subtle rainbow detailing can also be found on the shoe's aglet, heel tab and tongue logo.
UGG
One of our favourite Pride capsule collections to date, the UGG 'Pride' range takes the brand's iconic Fluff Yeah and Disco Checker slides and elevates them with bold colours and pastel hues. Inspired by the globally recognised LGBTQ+ flag, these colourful, comfy, ultra-fluffy slides come in all-gender sizing which makes it one of the most inclusive capsule collections yet.
You can get your hands on the UGG 'Pride' Fluff Yeah slides right now and, well, why wouldn't you? Specially designed from cosy sheepskin, a secure, elasticated slingback strap is added to these to ensure your foot stays firmly in place no matter what. Designed to make even more of a statement, the UGG 'Pride' Disco Checker Slide sits atop a chunky striped platform and boasts a checked upper. Perfect for wearing both in and outdoors, this sandal/slider hybrid is made to be seen!
NIKE
Offering up their bestselling silhouettes to celebrate Pride 2020, the Nike Air Force 1 “Rainbow” – released as part of the brand's 'Be True' collection – takes the OG design and elevates it with glossy accents and rainbow detailing. The Nike Swoosh to the side comes in a high-shine finish with an iridescent trim and the Pride rainbow flag sits on the heel. Perforations feature on the toe box and sides on this AF1 and the semi-transparent midsole really ties the whole design together.
Releasing alongside the Nike Air Force 1 'Pride' is a new Nike Air Max 2090 colourway. Boldly coloured and accented with “Be True” slogan lettering on the side, this sneak works in perfect tandem with the AF1 to celebrate Pride!
IKEA
Another Ikea Frakata bag to add to your collection – alongside the Virgil Abloh x Ikea and Hay iterations – the recently unveiled Ikea Frakata LGBTQ+ bag takes the original design and adds the Pride rainbow flag to it in celebration. Every penny of the profits from the sale of this iconic bag will be donated to LGBTQ+ charities and in an announcement about the release, Ikea said: “At IKEA, our culture is centred on the value of togetherness. We believe equality is a human right and that everyone deserves a home where they can be themselves. We know that lockdown will disproportionately affect the LGBTQ+ community. With many isolated from their support networks, and with Pride celebrations postponed, it has never been more important to show our support and encourage everyone to provide a safe and welcoming space for members of the LGBTQ+ community and 'be someone's home.”
You can get the bag on the Ikea website now and it only costs £1.50! And, don't forget, 100% of the profits go to charity.
NEW BALANCE
The New Balance “Pride Pack” is made up of two silhouettes and our instant favourite is the New Balance Fuelcell Echo “Pride”. Presented in a wearable blue finish, hits of rainbow feature under the lace-up panel, on the midsole and on the heel. Glossy iridescent panels really bring this sneaker to life and a jagged tread provides grip!
You can get your hands on the New Balance Fuelcell Echo “Pride” now at New Balance!
