After a turbulent start to the year, things have recently been pretty quiet for Ye, but now the artist formerly known as Kanye West is getting ready to drop the second installment of his Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collaboration, having showcased more of the collection in his ‘Life of the Party’ music video last night.
The track, which heavily features André 3000, pays homage to Ye’s mother, Donda West, so it’s unsurprising that the video appears to show an animated selection of the rapper’s childhood photographs, although these have been updated to show Ye wearing pieces from the upcoming collection. The result is a live lookbook, but what else would we expect from the Jeen-Yuhs?
The first installment of the Yeezy x Gap x Balenciaga collaborative effort dropped in February this year, and featured a selection of printed tees, hoodies and some denim styles. An early preview of the entire collection revealed that upcoming styles would arrive in oversized fits, with Ye and Demna’s much beloved dark, utilitarian aesthetic setting the theme for the collab. Future pieces include trench coats, leather pants, and a longer version of Yeezy Gap’s Round Jacket, although it’s yet to be revealed if they’ll be made available in this drop.
The ‘Life of the Party’ video premiered as a TV commercial on FOX last night as a Mother’s Day tribute to Donda. It was then revealed that the next Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga installment would drop on May 25th on yeezygap.com, so be sure to get that date in your diary and check out the music video below!
In other Yeezy news, the Yeezy Boost 700 is dropping in "Hi-Res Red."
