Virtual Exhibitions: Pomi240

Reimagining classic Disney Princesses rocking some of the most sought after streetwear trends is something that we have been dreaming of for a while, so we called on our favourite illustrator Pomi240 to bring this concept to life.

Before we knew it, Cinderella, Belle, and Snow White were transformed, and modelling everything from Balenciaga and Fendi, to Fila and Nike.

To discuss this amazing trio of designs, we spoke to Pomi240 to find out more about his inspiration and the current influence of women in streetwear.

We love the Disney Princess designs you created for us! How much do women's street style trends influence your work?

Thank you very much! The style trends of women within streetwear influence me in a different way than that of men. Considering it is a challenge that I am not used to, I would increasingly like to get to know more.

How did you work on incorporating classic and well-known features of the Disney characters into your street style series?

Well the truth is that when I made the designs, I wanted to create an outfit for each one of them based on the main colour range that represents each princess. In the case of Cinderella, I used a range of blues and whites, with Beauty, I used a range of yellow colours, and finally in the case of Snow White I focussed on a range of red colours.

Have you noticed an increased interest in female centric design concepts recently?

As for my followers, of course! And I have to say it's something that makes me happy because I can participate in an equal content creation for both men and women. But in the case of other Instagram pages I have seen, I think that nowadays few accounts have that balance.

Where do you get your inspiration for your illustrations?

How did you choose the brands to feature in your Disney Princess illustrations?

When choosing characters to illustrate, are you inspired by your childhood and characters that you enjoyed watching when you were growing up?

Definitely, I grew up in an environment in which cartoons were important, since I used to spent whole days watching them. As a matter of fact, in my house, I still keep the complete collection of classic Disney movies on VHS!

What is your ultimate goal with your work this year?

I would like to be able to make myself visible with my designs for big brands like Nike or adidas and to be able to collaborate with them. That would be amazing!
