Klekt was founded by two German sneakerheads back in 2013. Based in Cologne, Germany, Klekt today is one of the largest sneaker and streetwear marketplaces in the world, with one of the biggest audiences to match too. Since its inception, Klekt has helped sneakerheads and streetwear fans around Europe and the rest of the world cop some of their most sought after grails.
With all that said, if you haven't yet heard of Klekt, naturally you want to know just exactly if Klekt.com is a legitimate website or not. As we're all aware, sneakers and streetwear are expensive hobbies to have, so you want to make sure what you're buying has gone through a strict authentication process to cut the risk of scammers out of the equation. In the rest of this article we'll be giving you a full review on whether or not Klekt is a website you can put your trust in, so make sure to read on before you go and cop your next pair of Air Jordans, Yeezys or even that Supreme T-Shirt you've had your eye on.
Buying on Klekt
So say you've just spotted your holy grail pair of Nike Dunks on Klekt and you're ready to cop, before you rush into things make sure you check out this next section where we detail the buying process from start to finish!
Klekt implements a pretty simple four-step process from selection to receiving your item. Once you've found an item in your desired, size, condition and price you can go ahead and click the "buy it now" button on the listing. From this point, you will be prompted to input your login details to ensure you're signed in to an authenticated account. It will then be up to you to input the relevant card details alongside your delivery address and any other additional information.
Once your payment has been received by Klekt, the seller will receive an email confirming that their item has been purchased and it is now time to send the piece to Klekt's warehouse for verification.
Once the seller's item arrives at the Klekt warehouse it will undergo a strict verification process. According to Klekt's website, it states "Once we obtain the item from the Seller our professional authentication team will personally inspect the item within 3 working days." It is during this time in which each item (including its packaging) will be inspected for legitimacy. These legit checks include a physical inspection of the item's construction, materials and visual appearance by a crew of trained authenticators. If for some reason the seller's item is deemed fake or does not pass the inspection, you as the buyer will receive a full refund of the purchase price usually within 3 days.
If your item is given the thumbs up during the legit check, it will then become Klekt's responsibility to ship it directly to you in a safe manner. Klekt will aim to ship the item out around 1 day after the completion of the legit check meaning the average time for an order to arrive at the buyer's house is usually between 7-12 days total.
While most items will arrive legitimate and without a hitch, if you suspect your item is fake or are dissatisfied for some reason, you can contact Klekt directly at email@example.com. It is worth noting that according to Klekt's website, the group will not accept responsibility for factory flaws stating "Factory flaws occur at a point in the manufacturing process meaning that we are not liable for any flaws. As a secondary marketplace, we have no control over the production of any item that we sell, nor the brands quality control. We will alert you if a factory flaw has a detrimental effect on your item e.g loose stitching, midsole discolouration, but for general QC flaws we are not responsible."
The website will also not accept responsibility for incorrect storing, stating "Sometimes items can be stored incorrectly or arrive to us with slight marks on them. These marks may occur during storage, for example, the mesh may have yellowed or transported to us badly e.g. the outer box is too big for the shoe box. We will always alert you of such marks but we are not responsible to issue a refund as this is something that is out of our control."
Selling on Klekt
With many of our sneaker collections ever-growing, there comes a time where it might be a good idea to let a few pairs of sneakers go. Klekt's website allows you as a seller to sell anything from adidas to Air Max to undefined (as long as they're authentic sneakers of course). So whether you're looking to resell on some old deadstock pairs or even get rid of some worn pre-loved pieces, Klekt can offer an alternative to the likes of StockX.
Just like if you were purchasing an item, the first thing you have to do to be able to sell on Klekt is making an account. This is as simple as going to Klekt's website homepage and clicking the "Sign-Up" button on the top right. From this point, you must connect your Paypal account by signing in and signing the prompted “Information Agreement”.
Now by this point, you should be all set to list your products. On the seller page, you will see a list of products to be able to choose from for quicker access as well as a search bar to help narrow things down. Once you have found your product, make sure to select the size(s) you have available and the price you would like to sell it for. At this stage, obviously, it's best to be realistic. If your price is too high, you're going to struggle to find a buyer and instead your listing will sit. If your price is too low you run the risk of selling yourself short and not securing the money you deserve. If you're unsure just how much your item is selling for, we would advise checking out similar listings to give you a rough idea.
Once you're ready to progress, click "Add to List" to go to the next stage. You'll be asked now how long you want your listing to stay up for (anything from one week to two months) and then you're set! Click "List" at the bottom of the page and you'll then be prompted to answer a few questions about the item and its legitimacy then you're good to go.
This is where the waiting game starts. When a seller finally chooses to buy your item you will receive an email confirming your item has sold. Now it's your responsibility to safely package and send your item direct to Klekt for verification. Obviously, you want your item to arrive in the best condition possible to avoid a failure at the legit check, so make sure you double box your item just in case it gets bashed around in transit.
