Could there be trouble in paradise? After taking to Twitter to praise the Nike ISPA Road Warrior last month, Kanye West has now publicly declared that he misses rocking Air Jordans.
In an interview with Nick Cannon on the latest episode of his "Cannon's Class" web series, the American rapper, fashion designer, and presidential hopeful said, "Man I was just thinking, in my adidas contract, I definitely should be able to wear Jordans." He justified this by saying, "Jordans need to be part of reparations. You can't tell a Black man not to wear Jordans. It should be in any deal. And also, you can wear your friend's clothes."
In the chat, Ye also went into greater detail about his internship at Giuseppe Zanotti and also the time when the Nike Roshe Run completely dominated the sneaker scene. "I needed to replace that shoe and now when you go to the airports, you definitely see 350s and you don't see the Roshe anymore."
Kanye and adidas began their partnership back in 2013 when he fell out with Nike over his lack of creative control. With that said, it sounds like he's trying to make amends with the Beaverton brand, even going as far as to say that he wouldn't mind if they brought back the Air Yeezy line. Let us know what you think of Ye's bold statement, and in related news, Yeezy GM Jon Wexler has left adidas.
