Stan Lee's widely popular Marvel series is familiar not only to adults but to the younger generation as well. The Earth's mightiest superheroes, namely Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and a few others are some of the iconic figures many of us looked up to while growing up. That being said, Marvel and Japanese streetwear brand A Bathing Ape is joining forces once again to assemble the Avengers team through the BAPE STA model.
The Marvel x A Bathing Ape BAPE STA collection reunites six iconic Marvel characters from the original '90s line: Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, and Rocket Raccoon. And just like the Marvel x BAPE STA 2005 collection, these arrive with glossy patent panels and will be sold in action figure-inspired packaging for the ultimate nostalgic experience.
The team-up is helmed by none other than the first Avenger: Captain America. Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe sees Anthony Mackie taking on Chris Evans' role as the new Cap, the upcoming BAPE Sta "Captain America" takes on Steve Rogers' original outfit of blue, white, and red from Marvel Comics.
Tony Stark's weaponised character Iron Man then follows. The Marvel x BAPE STA "Iron Man" is equipped with bold red, yellow, and black accents to maintain the classic colours of the war machine MARK armor.
Next is Dr Bruce Banner's big green giant, The Marvel x BAPE STA "The Incredible Hulk". It features a predominantly green shade contrasted with blue and black.
The Marvel x BAPE Sta "Thor" then strikes with a bright yellow outfit to mimic the original Asgardian God of Thunder outfit. The MCU has seen variations of Thor's armor but this iteration keeps the traditional comic book look.
Who would have thought that a spy and assassin can head face to face with supernatural beings? Black Widow became a central character in the MCU after joining The Avengers to save Hawkeye from Loki. This Marvel x BAPE Sta "Black Widow" however pays homage to her look from 1979 — a mix of black, blue, and yellow tones with red to resemble her hair colour at the time.
Last but not least is the Marvel x BAPE STA "Rocket Raccoon". The intelligent, anthropomorphic raccoon, plays an important role as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the MCU but first made his appearance in Marvel Preview #7 comic magazine.
All Marvel x A Bathing Ape BAPE STA sneakers feature the character's figure on the lateral heel of the left shoe while the right sees Marvel's red-and-white box logo.
