You might be used to seeing New Balance styles arrive in the brand’s classic grey shades, but recently the brand has been seriously delivering on its more colourful options, too. We’ve already seen a couple of bright and bold 2002Rs hit the market this year, but it seems that the classic 990 is set to branch out into some vivid colourways too. Recently, two more pairs have been added to the Boston brand's line-up for 2022, so here’s a closer look at them both.
First up, the 2002R “Sport Royal” sees the recently revived silhouette take on a vibrant blue shade across the mesh, leather and suede upper. From here, classic NB grey wraps its way around the heel, and a grey ‘N’ logo sits on the side, and a white 2002R branding hit can be spotted just below the ankle. Underfoot, a comfy N-ERGY midsole arrives in matching shades of white, grey and blue, and provides a super-comfortable ride that’s packed with some of the best tech around.
The Teddy Santis x New Balance 990v3 “Red” is another bright banger of a colourway, and forms part of Teddy Santis’ Made in USA collection. For this pair, a ruby red hue dresses the uppers, taking on a tonal look as it spreads across the mesh and suede. Much like the 2002R, grey accents still peep through, this time appearing at the toebox, ankle, ‘N’ logo, and of course the classic 990v3 tongue detailing. Finally, a white and grey ENCAP midsole unit sits underfoot.
Both pairs are set to drop over the next couple of weeks at New Balance, so be sure to hit the release reminders if you’re looking to add these to your sneaker shelves. Next up, peep a look at the HIDDEN.NY x New Balance 992.
