In some ways, Kanye West (now Ye) really is as human as the rest of us, especially when it comes to not quite being able to let go of the past. Whether that’s calling out to his ex mid-performance (run back to meeee, Kimberlyyyyy) or pumping out a "Red October" reminiscent colourway, it goes to show that even a jeen-yuhs has time for self-reflection. For the most part, Ye’s Yeezy releases have stuck to the brand’s earth-toned palette, although occasionally bringing in hints of vibrant shades that have made for some seriously collectible sneakers (Wave Runners, anyone?). Ye’s use of reds, however, has only recently really started popping up again, firstly on the “Vermilion” Foam Runner, and now on the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 CMPCT “Slate Red.”
As the standard Yeezy Boost 350 V2s are still flying off the shelves, the Yeezy team seems to be taking the stance of “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” For now, the standard V2 shape remains king, with the new CMPCT (meaning compact) V2 running alongside the main version in production. The CMPCT V2 features a new weave, sock-like upper, and a squashed-down shape, with the only real original feature being the standard 350 V2 Boost sole unit. For the “Slate Red” CMPCT 350 V2, a bold red tone takes over the entire sneaker, from the knit upper (which sees flecks of brown weaved in) to the laces, to the sole.
The “Slate Red” adidas Yeezy Boost V2 CMPCT is set to launch Feb 17 at adidas, so be sure to head over to adidas CONFIRMED to get your entry in ASAP!
Up next, the Yeezy 700 "Wave Runner" could see a restock this year.
