It’s been a long time in the making, but as Teddy Santis starts to settle into his tenure as New Balance’s creative director of the brand’s MADE in the USA line, finally more images of the new collaborative Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 650s are starting to come to light. After the recent success of the collaborative low-top version, the 550, the ALD x New Balance 650R was made available for pre-order late last year, and it looks like pairs may have started to ship.
Featuring a retro-style high-top design, and branding elements in line with the NB 550, this super-clean style is definitely a future classic. Crafted from off-white leather, the 650R ALD x New Balance sneakers sported grey, black or green details depending on which pair you went for, which can be seen on the ‘N’ logo, sole and heel tab.
The New Balance 550 has undoubtedly been the must-have shoe of the year so far, but a running theme with these retro-style sneakers seems to be that a high-top version is never far behind. The Aimé Leon Dore NB 650 follows this trend like the Nike Dunk and adidas Forum before it, and we’re sure that the success of the collab will see the silhouette receive a general release in no time.
There’s no word yet on whether the original Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 650R colourways will see another release once the pre-order has shipped, but there is still lots to come from both brands this year. Until then, expect to see these hit the resale market very soon, and download our app to stay up to date with all the latest sneaker news and releases.
