Red Wing's Super Mario Boots Prove the Cartoonification of Footwear Isn't Over Yet

Remember MSCHF’s Big Red Boots? Let us introduce you to the next pair in-line for the Sillybilly awards, the Red Wing Super Mario Boots. Though just as outrageous (albeit even less wearable) than MSCHF’s efforts, thankfully there’s an actual reason that this pair exists.

Designed to celebrate the upcoming Super Mario Bros movie, the premium workboot brand unveiled a one-of-a-kind prototype replica of the cartoon character’s iconic boots. Blown up to absurd proportions, the boots are crafted by Red Wing’s master craftspeople, and are made from the brand's premium leather and finished with non-slip treads. Unlike MSCHF’s rubber make-up, the special-edition release even features sustainable touches, with mycelium-made mushroom heel pads that have the added bonus of nodding back to the game.

Speaking on the project, Red Wing Shoes CMO Dave Schneider said, “At Red Wing Shoe Company, we’ve been supplying long-lasting, durable, and comfortable footwear that protects trades workers on the job site for 118 years. We were excited to deliver that same ambition and energy to Mario’s Boots as one of the most famous plumbers in the world!”
