New Balance's ongoing process of reviving their archived silhouettes appears to be going very smoothly. Now that the New Balance 550's popularity has reached an all-time high record this season, thanks to Aimé Leon Dore's Teddy Santis, the Boston sportswear giant has shifted its focus on bringing back the discontinued New Balance 990v3. Alongside the anticipated collaborations with Bodega and Joe Freshgoods, a long-term collaborator of the footwear imprint is joining the party, it's none other than Ronnie Fieg. We've got a closer look at the upcoming KITH x New Balance 990v3 "Genesis" and it's certainly different from what we've expected from the designer.
As teased by the designer himself via Instagram, Fieg disregards his go-to colourful design on this pair, quite diverse from what we've seen on his recent KITH x Vans collaboration, the KITH x New Balance 992 "Kithmas", and anything else prior.
This New Balance 990 variant blends in mesh and suede toolings across the upper, both commonly used across New Balance's notable 99x series. This then sees a deep navy hue filling in the panels from heel to toe, including the profile "N" logos, and only contrasted with minor hits of white on branding details, and grey-silver on the tongue and heel. The ensemble is rounded off with cream laces tying the shoe together, paired with a midsole engineered with ENCAP cushioning technology and AZBORB outsole for optimal durability and traction.
At this time, an official release date of the KITH x New Balance 990v3 "Genesis" has not been confirmed by the power duo. However, if you keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier, we'll be the first to let you know of all the upcoming New Balance releases.
