Getting your hands on a piece of sneaker history is no cheap or easy feat, but for those looking to own something really special, you don’t get much better than this. Famed action house Sotheby’s has recently announced that it will be selling six of Micheal Jordan’s game-worn sneakers, which were worn by the star during six Championship games for the Bulls during the 1990s.
Dubbed “The Dynasty Collection”, the set contains an Air Jordan 6, Air Jordan 7, Air Jordan 8, Air Jordan 11, Air Jordan 12 and Air Jordan 14, spanning the years from 1991-1998. Dressed in the iconic Bulls shades of black, red and white, Sotheby’s proclaim the collection to be “the most valuable and significant collection of Air Jordan sneakers ever brought to market.” According to the Wall St Journal, experts place the set’s value well into the millions. Adding to the value, the shoes sport certain quirks: the Air Jordan 8, for example, is signed with the words “(Our) LAST F-ing game”, while other pairs simply proudly display their wear and tear - a homage to the parts played on the court.
The pairs are currently on display in Dubai, and will be sold as a set, instead of auctioned off. However, unless you have a couple of million going spare, it might be worth opting for some retro J’s instead - luckily there are plenty of good releases planned for the rest of the year.
