Collaborations between streetwear and high fashion brands have definitely become more common over the past couple of years, but when Dries Van Noten announced it would be working on a capsule collection with Stüssy, it still managed to feel like a surprise. Enlisting A$AP Nast’s help to leak the first teaser post (he is a Designer Boi after all), the duo followed up with a campaign that starred Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, adding the perfect rock-n-roll-inspired touch to the edgy high-low collab.
Though Dries isn’t one to give in to many brand collaborations, the designer himself has steered the brand to work with artists, which means that the heavily decorated Stüssy collection doesn’t feel out of place at all. A look at the campaign imagery shows a collection of tailored styles (would it be even Dries without great tailoring?) like rhinestone-striped jackets and trousers, sitting alongside denim jackets and jersey hoodies that perfectly marry the two brands’ aesthetics.
Other highlights include short-sleeve button-up shirts in various prints, as well as a varsity jacket and two parkas that’ll help you beat the winter chill. A number of tees round off the 31-piece collection, which also includes a couple of caps to accessorise with. There is one important thing to note though: prints and badges make psychedelic and drug references throughout, so as much of a flex owning Stüssy x Dries might be, maybe don’t wear it around your parents.
The collection is set to drop worldwide on the 18th of November, so be sure to head over to Stüssy or Dover Street Market for your best chance of copping.
