TALA Gym Wear Review & Size Guide: How Does TALA Activewear Fit?

If you’re looking to up your gym wear game, allow us to introduce you to TALA, (or wearetala). Founded by fitness influencer-turned entrepreneur, Grace Beverley, TALA prides itself on making sustainable activewear accessible to all, whilst also remaining super flattering and fashion-forward.

From sweat-wicking active-ready styles to comfy loungewear, TALA is the sustainable gym wear brand you should have on your radar. With ranges for everyday workouts, HIIT and Pilates, and colours and fits to suit every body shape, TALA challenges some of activewear’s biggest players by making affordable and eco-friendly activewear. Their key styles, such as SkinLuxe and Zinnia have cult followings with customers (rightfully) singing their praises. However, if you’ve not bought from them before, you’ll want to know whether TALA fits true to size, whether you should size up or down in TALA activewear, and whether TALA is worth the price tag. So, we’ve taken all the guesswork out of it, and put together this handy TALA size guide and review for you!

First things first, we’re talking gym wear here, so it’s worth bearing in mind that a lot of TALA styles are meant to be compressive. This helps to add extra support while you’re working out, plus this also means that the activewear will be able to wick away sweat and moisture more effectively.

You should be fine to stick to your true size in TALA leggings and most of TALA’s tops. The only exception tends to be TALA’s sports bras, or tops with in-built support - if you have a bigger bust size (D+) it might be worth going up a size.

Once you’ve got the right size sorted, TALA sportswear is super flattering and really comfortable. Though most styles are made from recycled fabrics, these are still extremely soft - you’ll never be able to tell that your fave leggings came from discarded plastic bottles. TALA also match their fitted gym styles with comfy, oversized loungewear staples such as t-shirts and sweatshirts for the perfect off-duty ‘fit. Although TALA is more accessible than your typical boutique activewear brand, the brand have worked hard to make sure that the quality of the products is up to par with more expensive brands like Sweaty Betty and Lululemon.

Fit: Take your true size in TALA leggings and most tops, but consider sizing up in TALA’s sports bras and fitted tops if you’re above a D-cup.

Comfort: TALA styles are super comfortable, but are meant to feel compressive for better performance.

Quality: TALA quality is really good for the price, and on par with more expensive activewear brands.

TALA gym leggings generally fit true to size. Most TALA leggings come in a standard full-length fit, but also a Tall and 7/8 version too, meaning that whatever your height, you won’t have to lose out on the flattering fits. TALA leggings come in a high-waisted fit, as this helps to give extra support and coverage as you work through your exercises.

When shopping for the perfect pair of gym leggings, it can be hard to find the right fit. A well-fitting pair of leggings shouldn’t roll over or pinch at the waist (this means they’re too small) and they shouldn’t be baggy or bunching by your hip flexors or knees, as this means they’re too big.

Yes! TALA gym leggings are super-comfortable providing you’ve followed all the instructions to get the right size. If seams are an issue for you, opt for the Zinnia seamless leggings, as this style features a seamless construction. As a sustainable brand, the TALA team have been very open about why most of their styles have a front seam, as this creates much less fabric waste than seamless styles do.

Seams or no seams, all TALA leggings feel compressive and supportive whilst retaining a good amount of stretch, but if you’re looking for a super-soft feel to add to that, SkinLuxe and Dayflex are the ranges for you!

We really believe that TALA’s gym leggings are a great high-quality pair, especially for the price! We’ll also give them bonus points for that ultra-flattering high rise fit, and for the fact they’re squat proof because - let’s face it - these things are important!

As mentioned, it’s usually fine to stick to your true size in TALA sports bras, unless you are on the bustier side. A well-fitting sports bra is essential for keeping you comfy and supported, but If you’re not sure how to fit a sports bra properly, there are a few checks you can do. Generally, a sports bra should fit a little tighter than a normal bra, but not so tight that it restricts your breathing or rides up if you lift your arms. You should also be able to fit a finger between the strap and your shoulders.

TALA’s sports bra styles are known for being super flattering. Their DayFlex and SkinLuxe ranges in particular are known for giving the perfect amount of lift, whilst still feeling secure enough to work out in. Most TALA styles also feature removable padding, so you’ll also be able to adjust the amount of coverage to your preference.

TALA sports bras are super comfortable, just remember to follow our advice above for getting the right fit. TALA does a huge range of sports bra styles, so whatever your preferred level of coverage, there will be a bra to help you feel comfortable and confident in the gym.

Yes! We’re raving a lot about TALA’s quality, but you really won’t get a more comfortable, functional, or flattering sports bra for the price. Just make sure you follow the garment care instructions to make them last as long as possible!

How TALA gym tops fit will largely depend on what style you go for, as the brand do everything from vests with built-in support to comfy oversized tees. As a rule of thumb, if the top is skin tight (the SkinLuxe long sleeve, for example), or has a built-in support, we’d recommend following the same advice as we shared for the sports bra, and with normal relaxed-fit tops and tees, take your usual size.

Definitely! Whether you prefer something with a little more room and coverage, or something a little more fitted, TALA’s tops are the perfect extra layer. Depending on what you go for, they’re either made from the same fabrics as your gym clothes or comfy cotton, so go with whichever range you feel suits you best!

Like TALA sports bras and leggings, TALA’s tops are great quality too - just be sure to follow the washing instructions to get the most out of them.

So, with top marks for fit, comfort and quality, and bonus points for sustainability, maybe it’s time to give TALA a try? Just remember to stick to your true size unless you’re lucky enough to be blessed in the chest department, and you should fit some new, super-cute sustainable gym wear to fit you!
