Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Nike is treating us to a plethora of new and exciting Air Force 1s in honour of the occasion. Having been a staple in our rotation for so long, it’s crazy that the Swoosh Brand is still thinking of new things to do to the silhouette to pique our interest again and again. That being said, the breathable perforations and Air cushioning have remained, making the humble AF-1 not only one of the most stylish sneakers in our rotations, but one of the comfiest too. This week has been a busy one for the Bruce Kilgore-designed sneaker, so keep scrolling to take a look at some of our favourites which have been unveiled. Don’t forget, you can set your release reminders using the link making sure you never miss the drop!
First up, we have the Nike Air Force 1 “Overbranded”, a pink and white iteration that has Swooshes a-plenty. As well as this, a funky icy outsole finishes up the design and makes for something a little different ready to spice up our rotation. However, if you’re more into your neutrals, then the Nike AF1 “Taupe” is definitely for you. With a coloured outsole, heel, branding and sockliner, this is one sneaker that will fit right into your rotation and be a pair you’ll reach for time and time again.
As we know, the sneaker industry is striving to be more earth-friendly as time goes by, and the Nike Air Force 1 Next Nature “Lilac” is the next sneaker to join Nike’s Move to Zero programme. You can’t go wrong with cute and sustainable sneakers! The best of both worlds.
Following on from this, we take a trip to Puerto Rico. Nike has paid homage to many countries and cities around the globe, and this Caribbean island is next. With blue and red accents across the upper, this Air Force 1 takes details from the flag, as well as showing off one of the nation’s favourite pastimes, dominoes, on the lace lock.
In a more neutral fashion, the Nike Air Force 1 ‘82 “Sail Rust” shows off the yellowed-out, vintage style in the best way that they know how, which is combined with the ever-popular shadowed design. Whilst this iteration takes on the classic all-leather upper, the next on our list mixes things up by introducing embroidered material and canvas onto the body. Complete with a Grind outsole, the Nike Air Force 1 Sun Club “Beige Purple” is one adorable sneaker that is also good for our planet.
Constructed from the same earth-conscious materials, the next “Sun Club” AF1 on the list keeps it clean in a white and tan palette. Not only this though, the laces add an extra twist which makes this otherwise plain Air Force 1 really quite interesting.
For those with small feet, the Nike Air Force 1 GS “Red White” takes notes from the editions above and combines leather and cord to create an interesting mixed-materials style. Furthermore, the heel panel is overrun with squiggly lines to create an abstract look that only adds to the sneaker’s personality. In a similar fashion, the Nike Air Force 1 “Brushstroke” takes an artsy approach to the iconic Swoosh by adding paint strokes behind the transparent TPU panel on both sidewalls. Which is your favourite? Yellow or green?
If “Panda” sneakers are your thing, then rest assured the Nike Air Force 1 Low “White Black” is an upcoming release for you. However, if you’ve been wondering whether there’ll be any Highs or Mids on this list, then your time has come! Finishing off, we have the Nike Air Force 1 High “University Blue” that combines crisp white and vintage tones to make a very retro, ‘80s-feeling sneaker, and the Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Venice”. Taking cues from the Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT which was recently released, this Mid AF-1 sees suede dress the upper, with a white Swoosh completing the look.
