The Air Jordan 2 seems to be enjoying a bit of a renaissance right now, as it's been the silhouette of choice for some seriously high-profile collabs. Following on from takes by the late Virgil Abloh, Union LA and A Ma Maniére, the shoe now lends itself to Columbian singer J Balvin, who looks to the skies for the inspiration behind the J Balvin x Air Jordan 2 "Blue."
Following on from his previous Air Jordan 1 collab, the artist continues to put his spin on the sneaker with a number of colour graphic elements. Here, the "Blue" J Balvin Jordan 2 gets painted with cloud print on the heel overlays and interior linings, whilst the rest of the upper opts for a blue ripstop fabric that stretches across puffed up panelling on the ankles and midfoot.
The sky-blue hue continues towards the front of the sneaker where blue suede wraps itself around the toe cap, and a blue tongue gives way to a Jordan Wings logo that’s designed to glow in the dark. Elsewhere, J Balvin’s smiley face logo can be spotted on the back heel, and his lightning bolt logo appears on the inside of the tongue. The J Balvin AJ2’s quirky design is finished with more glow-in-the-dark detailing: the outsole shines fluorescent green in low-light conditions.
Right now, the "Blue" J Balvin x Air Jordan 2 is rumoured for an October release, but be sure to hit the links to turn your release reminders on nice and early, and keep it locked to stay up to date with all the latest sneaker news!
