New Balance aficionados no doubt enjoyed the revival of Boston footwear label's archived NB550 Basketball Oxfords sneakers last year. After blessing the silhouette in four vintage-inspired colourways in collaboration with NY-based cult menswear label Aimé Leon Dore, it appears that New Balance has joined forces once again with Teddy Santis to give the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 a new makeover for the upcoming spring season.
Officially unveiled by the founder himself via Instagram, premium leather overlays, indulged in a neutral white tone, crafts most of the shoe's uppers. A small segment of the collar and the topmost part of the tongue, however, flaunts a darkened shade of green joined with yellow adorning the italicised "N" logos midfoot, thus giving the side profiles a bolder look.
The vintage-esque scheme is further elevated with a chunky yellowed midsole for an aged look, moulded with a New Balance emblem and text on the lateral side, and co-branding details imprinted on the tongue, insoles, and heel alike. Extra hits of grey and the preceding colours then land on the rubber outsole, rounding off the highly-anticipated New Balance trainers.
The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 is scheduled to arrive sooner than you think!
