New Balance’s “Protection Pack” is easily one of the brand’s most sought-after finishes and for good reason. Having found its feet on the 2002R, the brand’s 1906D silhouette is the latest style to receive the treatment, which comes courtesy of designer Yue Wu.
Known for its layered design and jagged finish, “Protection Pack” pairs see each style come reimagined with a little extra edge, making them a winner with sneaker fans and customisers alike. The “Castlerock” colourway sees the 1906D come outfitted in New Balance’s classic grey tones, with both hairy and smooth suedes taking on varying shades of the hue across the upper. Peeking through from underneath the suede panels is a grey mesh base, which adds breathable functionality to the runner-inspired silhouette. Underfoot, a cream-toned N-ergy midsole unit adds extra cushioning, while branded elements hit the upper in the form of an N-shaped lace lock, tongue branding and a 1906D branded tab at the ankle.
