New Balance 1906D Protection Pack Grey

Pitching the deconstructed tooling from the Protection Pack is this New Balance 1906D. The capsule, which burst onto the scene in 2021 with its 2002R model, has now leapt onto this new retro from New Balance, hoping it’ll have the same effect in garnering a whole new audience for the 1906D. This release comes in 2 colourways (this grey pair and a darker 1906D Protection Pack Black) both embodying the subtle hues and rugged details the pack is known for.

Doused in detail, the upper’s panelling has been given the unfinished treatment with jagged cuts located throughout. A dark grey hairy suede overlays the lighter and more fine suede that pokes out from underneath, giving the shoe its layered feel. A tightly woven dark grey mesh underpins the construction, laying host to all the nuanced features of the 1906D. At the back sits the heel support cage, adding stability to the ABZORB heel unit which provides cushioning below. The midsole takes a leaf out of the aged aesthetic, a motif that is also seen in the sidewall branding “N” with its yellowed outlines. Contrasting the dark hues of the upper are the cream laces that are threaded above, completing the look of this pair of New Balance 1906D.
